MPF 20000 is a nine-axis CNC airblast system for saturation shot peening and peen forming of aircraft wing skins. The machine coordinates two symmetrical four-axis robot groups, an NC overhead conveyor and closed-loop media generators for large automated components.
| Technology | Airblast |
|---|---|
| Processes | Saturation shot peening and peen forming |
| Maximum component size | 20,000 × 2,500 mm |
| Maximum component weight | 2,000 kg |
| Robot arrangement | Two symmetrical 4-axis robot groups |
| Nozzles | 6 pressure nozzles per robot group |
| Peak shot delivery | Up to 240 kg/min |
| Control | Fanuc 16i, dual operator station and pendant |
| Media classification | Three media sizes; steel balls up to 3.5 mm |
The NC overhead conveyor uses a removable fixturing frame with onboard electric hoists and component-position recognition. The documented work envelope reaches 20 m length, 2.5 m width and 2,000 kg.
Two symmetrical four-axis robot groups each carry six pressure nozzles. Their motion can be synchronized for saturation peening, while closed-loop generators regulate air pressure and shot flow.
A camera-based position-scanning system is listed, with optional 3D measurement for additional component-location control.
The recovery system classifies three media sizes and supports steel balls up to 3.5 mm. The blast chamber uses double lining for acoustic attenuation and pass-through vestibules with retractable sealing brushes and curtains.
Supervision software provides peening, production and maintenance functions. The documented control system cites DMP 28, MIL S 1365 and AMS 2432; production compliance still depends on validated recipes, calibration, media control and customer procedure.
