This reference compares three Struers electrolytic preparation systems by intended workflow rather than treating the family as a single machine. LectroPol-7 is configured for repeatable laboratory polishing and etching, MoviPol-5 supports portable on-site metallography, and TenuPol-5 prepares thin transmission-electron-microscopy specimens.

LectroPol-7 suits laboratory preparation where stored methods, voltage scanning and controlled electrolyte conditions are required. MoviPol-5 addresses large structures, welds and other surfaces that must be prepared in place. TenuPol-5 is dedicated to electrolytic pre-thinning and final thinning of small TEM discs.
LectroPol-7 separates the control and polishing units with a 2 m cable; an optional arm accommodates specimens up to 100 mm high. MoviPol-5 uses a polishing pistol, exchangeable electrolyte cartridge and peristaltic pump so horizontal or inverted surfaces can be reached. TenuPol-5 accepts 12–21 mm starting material for pre-thinning and produces 3.0 mm or 2.3 mm final discs.
MoviPol-5 can run from a rechargeable battery for up to 1.5 hours or from mains power. LectroPol-7 monitors electrolyte temperature, current and voltage. TenuPol-5 uses infrared perforation detection to stop final thinning at the selected light-stop value.
These systems share an electrolytic preparation principle but are not interchangeable SKUs. Selection depends on whether the work is controlled laboratory polishing and etching, portable surface preparation, or TEM specimen thinning. Electrolyte compatibility, ventilation and the applicable operating procedure must be confirmed for the selected method.
