LectroPol-7 is an automated electrolytic polishing and etching system for metallographic specimens. A voltage-scanning function supports parameter selection for new materials, while controlled electrolyte flow, temperature monitoring and reusable methods help maintain repeatable preparation conditions.
| System type | Automatic electrolytic polishing and etching |
|---|---|
| Parameter setup | Current-density scan across a defined voltage range |
| Method database | More than 10 supplied methods; up to 200 custom methods |
| Control layout | Separate control and polishing units |
| Interconnection | 2 m cable |
| Electrolyte control | Flow circulation and temperature monitoring |
| External etching | Preset-time external etching supported |
| Specimen accommodation | Multiple mask sizes; optional arm for specimens up to 100 mm |
For a new material, the scanning function measures a current-density curve across a defined voltage range. The curve is used to select a polishing or etching voltage, reducing trial-and-error setup.
Stored methods allow defined settings to be reused for recurring materials and preparation tasks.
The pump can circulate electrolyte before current is applied so that flow is established at process start. Temperature is monitored continuously; cooling can start at a preset limit using mains water or an external cooling unit.
The system monitors electrolyte temperature, voltage and current. Depending on the limit reached, it can warn the operator, stop the process or reduce settings. A transparent cover forms a barrier around the polishing area while keeping it visible.
